Babystuff

My mom came over Tuesday and we did all the shopping. All things that are necessary according to all the lists we could find on the internet, books and brochures are bought. The only things we still need to do are: make the bed higher; prepare the suitcase; iron the baby clothes. Today we will meet with our kraamhulp.

Mom also cleaned the windows from the inside and the outside.

New car?

Tuesday my mom came to Nieuwegein by train and tram to do the final shopping for baby clothing and other baby related equipment. The planning was that she would stay till Wednesday and on Wednesday take the train back to Sittard to be picked up by my dad. Since a week however, my dad had decided that they need a new car.
When we called him on Wednesday morning we told him mom and myself were going to IJsselstein to go to a nice babyshop. He suddenly realized he had seen a nice car in IJsselstein. he never realized it was so close to Nieuwegein. When we told him this he decided to come up and make a testdrive with the car. They went to the shop and about 1.5 hours later the phone rang. He was stranded on a crossing near our house. The battery of the car was totally empty and since modern cars are completely electronic the car could not be moved. He did not have the phone number of the garage, so I called the garage. Since he was stranded quite close to our house I decided to walk there and made some pictures.

A lot of people stopped and said:”you better not buy that car”. Fortunately the garage sent somebody over to pick him up from the crossing. You would guess he did not buy the car, stubborn as my father is….. he bought the car.
They can pick up the car next Wednesday.

Preparing (is it possible?)

Deef and myself are slowly preparing ourselves that withing 6 weeks we will no longer be alone. I have cleaned the nursery yesterday. Today I took the Maxi Cosi apart and washed that. We have to prepare a small suitcase in case we have to go to the hospital. Tomorrow mom and myself will go shopping for the last items (the list was still quite long). We are preparing the list of addresses to send birth cards to.

So as you can see physically we are preparing, but how about mentally preparing? We are both not really convinced that that is possible, but we are doing our bests.

“Holidays”

Yesterday was my last working day for my boss for the coming 4 months. Today is a obligatory day off and after that my maternity leave will start.

It still feels a little bit strange, but staying in bed till 8 felt quite okay this morning.

Nursery update

Yesterday we “finalized” the nursery. Pictures and decorations were put on the wall. Pictures of this can be found later today on www.deefsuus.nl. The only thing we still need to do is buy enough clothes and other small things (e.g. thermometer, dipers etc.), wash all clothes and clean the nursery.

It has been a while, busy busy and nothing much new to report. Yesterday our old couch was taken away by some company that tries to sell it (we did not succeed in selling it online). Today my eye fell on an article that states that children do not make a woman happier…let’s see if that is going to be the case, or not. Read it here (dutch).
